The Montichiari Electronics Fair in September 2025 provided Grazioli Antenne with the perfect stage to present the MV7 (Multiband Vertical 7) antenna, a Vertical Ground Plane Antenna that covers 7 amateur radio bands (40, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10 and 6 meter).
The MV7 stands out among multiband antennas as the only one entirely made in Italy, and for two engineering challenges it has solved: direct power supply without impendance, and, crucial for modern installations, the problem of radial clutter (usually wire radials laid out on the roof), especially for the 40-metre band.

1. MV7: The Technical Base (Efficiency and Applicable Power)
The MV7 is 8.97 metres tall and bases its performance on a design without traps or dissipative transformers. This choice is fundamental for managing high power and ensuring that the signal is not wasted in heat.

2. Innovation: The Radial Wire for 40 metres!
eThe real leitmotif of Pier Francesco Grazioli's presentation (you can see it from min. 11:03 to min. 15:12 of the video) was the addition of the 40 meters band. The achievement of this band in the MV7 was made possible thanks to the introduction of a modified ground plane with an innovative system called DBFC, which stands for Dual Band Folded Counterpoise, making this system unique.
The Roof Challenge: For the 40m band, the theoretical length of a 1/4λ should be about 10 meters. Installing four 10-meter tubular radials on a roof is obviously impractical, forcing operators to resort either to 10-meter long wire radials to be laid out on the roof (which is not always operable) or to inductively loaded radials that introduce losses and restrict the usable band.
With the Grazioli innovation this is possible by maintaining the length of the radials like the MV6.
The Patented Radial Wire: Grazioli's innovation was the hybrid solution (tubes + wire), which the MV7 uses:
- Tubular Radials + Wire: A series of four rigid tubular radials, approximately 2.7 meters long, that stand for a Ground Plane for the higher bands (20 meters and above), exactly the same as the MV6, and as a supporting structure for the DBFC or Dual Band Folded Counterpoise, or additional Dual Band wire radial, as it works ONLY for the 40m band. This thin AISI316 stainless steel wire, approximately 8 metres long, anchored at the tip to one of the 4 radials, acts as an extension of one of the radials, and being supported and therefore folded towards the subsequent radials, reaches the length of approximately 10 metres necessary to make it resonate on 40m. This ingenious system, which is patent pending, solves the problem of bulkiness.

For the OM Operator: This system offers the benefits of a ground plane tuned to 40 meters (essential for efficiency) without the mechanical bulk of full-size radials. It is a pragmatically ingenious solution that recognises the real limitations of urban installations.
3. Critical Assessment: How much does MV7 earn and how does it really perform?
Despite its robustness and technology, it is essential to understand the radiation patterns and gain values of your MV7.
